INTERNATIONAL SERVICES | CASE STUDIES

Here are some real examples of ways in which we’ve helped companies gain better control over their global distribution operations:

Company A

PROBLEM:  Company A had serious concerns with the multiple international charges and application of accessorial charges related to their international invoices.   The CFO had no resources within the company to review and determine which were valid charges and which were excessive relative to the services provided.  It had become very difficult to understand international transportation terms and determine which provided advantages for his company.

SOLUTION:  After a thorough audit of the current invoices and various charges, M33 was able to provide a detailed comparison of valid charges and rates that should apply to Company A’s international shipments.  M33’s analysis provided suggestions for more economical shipping terms as well as optimal routing through alternative ports that saved money and transit times.

Company B

PROBLEM:  Company B felt like they had good people in place to manage their international supply chain.  Over the last decade, most transportation-related costs had been cut or remained steady.  But executives understood that they weren’t comparing rates between relevant third-parties, and wondered if it was possible to increase savings while maintaining service levels.

SOLUTION:  Company B turned to M33 to learn if their rate structure was still competitive in today’s market.  M33’s international team reviewed the last 90 days of Company B’s freight bills, and together they compared the rates and reliability of several different international shippers.  After choosing new providers for some lanes, and renegotiating rates with existing third-parties, Company B was able to realize cost reductions and gain even more control over their international operations.

Company C

PROBLEM:  Company C’s supply chain was growing and becoming more complex.  Senior managers were unsure if they had the proper resources to manage the company’s import/export activity as efficiently and cost effectively as possible.  They were faced with the choice of hiring new staff to manage their growth or partnering with a third party that was already proficient in global logistics.

SOLUTION:  After a few involved discussions, Company C realized that a partnership would be the most advantageous strategy.  Company C allowed M33 to co-manage each international shipment through their web-based TMS.  This tool gave Company C the ability to the track and trace their shipments in real time, and the advantage of using benchmarks to cut costs.  With this co-management partnership in place, Company C was free to return their focus to the production and sale of their product instead of the red tape usually associated with international freight.

Company D

PROBLEM:  Company D has enjoyed success selling the in the North American market for decades.  International exporting seemed like the next natural step; however, management didn’t feel like they had the necessary people and technology in place to handle such an aggressive expansion.

SOLUTION:  By partnering with M33, Company D was able to establish an international supply chain within 30 days.  Together, managers at M33 and Company D evaluated and selected the appropriate freight forwarders, implemented efficient document management, and set up a support system that allowed them to manage their cargo in real time.

Company E

PROBLEM:  Company E was looking for ways to streamline their global distribution model.  Their transportation department was spending an average of 30-40 hours a month generating and submitting the appropriate documents.  They knew there must be a way streamline the process, but didn’t know which method was the best fit for their company.

SOLUTION:  M33’s technology and support enabled Company E to automate their form generation, submission, and approval processes.  Because of this partnership, Company A was able to focus their people and resources on selling, rather than shipping, their products.
